Is Time Flying Bye For You?

Is Time Flying Bye For You?

It’s now just past the middle of January 2019, how time flies.

It seems that the notion of time flying by only occurs when you are happy, safe, contented, or enjoying what you are doing and those you are within a positive atmosphere.

Time seems to stand still when things aren’t going well, you hate what you do when the people around you are unpleasant, impatient, irritable, unkind or sometimes just plain mean.

I know there are still too many people at work today facing these issues. Clients continue to complain of feeling, abused, threatened, ignored, passed over and sometimes invisible because someone else is angry, upset or irritable.

Others have been the brunt of bad jokes, harassment, bullying and disrespect. What I have come to learn from speaking with both the victims and the perpetrators is that these actions are driven by tumultuous emotions.

One of the things we teach in the 30-Day Emotional Wellness Cleanse program is to question your emotions. The truth is we cannot rely on our feelings to form decisions on how to behave and treat others in the workplace. I know you may be reading this and thinking; what? Yes, our emotions are fickle, they do not last. We can be sad in the morning and happy in the evening.

Conversely, our co-workers and working relationships remain after our emotions have subsided. If you must work with the same people for most of your career, why not make that a happy and joyful relationship?

If you find that you are being ruled by your emotions and that they are ruining your relationships at home or at work, then it is time to look at what you want in your life and make a positive change before it is too late.

The focus of the Global Workplace Wellness Virtual Summit this February is on emotional wellness as we secure more resources to help improve wellness at work.

It pays to have healthy relationships, so why not take stuck of how your emotions are impacting your ability to do so? Take some time to note the emotions you feel throughout today and see how long each emotion lasts. Most likely feelings of doubt, fear, and worry are the ones you feel more frequently. I want to challenge you to replace those emotions when they come up. Let’s increase emotions such as joy, gratitude, happiness, hope and fulfillment.

Ever heard the saying that what you focus on is what you attract? Well, it’s true for your emotions. The more you focus on the positive emotions, the more likely you will encounter incidences that stimulate more of those emotions. It is called a cycle. We are working on changing the emotional cycle in the 30-day emotional wellness program. You can learn more here.

I would love to hear how you are breaking your emotional cycle. What’s working for you? Let me know below.
