Is There a Risk to Your Mental Wellness at Work?

mental wellness

About 80% of people in the workforce are unhappy, disengaged, in conflict, or lack deep satisfaction with their work. These are factors that contribute to mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, and other forms of mental fatigue.

Many people believe that being in a job where they are unhappy has no ill effects or consequences. The opposite is true. Humans are designed to be treated with dignity and respect. We also need to have a sense of purpose and direction, something we love, enjoy doing, which we know makes a difference to others.

We are also social animals who need deep meaningful connections to thrive. Studies in positive psychology show that no matter our income, status, grades, or position, the quality of our relationships determines our level of happiness, and life satisfaction, which directly impacts our mental wellness and overall well-being.

As workplaces become more diverse with generational divides, cultural, ethnic and religious differences, it is more important for organizations to begin paying attention to the risks their employees may face to their mental wellness.

My client today had been abused and mistreated at work for over a decade. It had become so common place that she though it was normal. It takes years to get away from the stress and anxiety of workplace abuse.

I will be sharing tips and strategies to maintain mental wellness at work in my webinars. Join me here to gather tips and strategies for mental wellness.
