Winter is here and with it, the winter blues and cabin fever with symptoms that show up as low energy, lack of focus and distractions become more prominent.

Many people are affected by Seasonal Affected Disorder (SAD) and don’t have a clue why they are more prone to emotional malaise, irritability and crabbiness over the winter months. It is estimated that 2% to 3% of employees will be affected by SAD.

You may be less patient or tolerant with others, irritable, frustrated and upset, or even experience more turbulent emotions such as anger, depression or isolation.

Emotional turmoil, when left unaddressed, can result in serious issues such as interpersonal conflict, apathy, absenteeism, and chronic depression with its frightening side effects. 

There is much that can be done to boost emotional well-being, improve positive thinking, such as fresh air, exercise, hydration, proper nutrition and rest.
