04 Jul Emotional Cleanse a Remedy for Personal and Professional Development, and Workplace Culture Change
Are you noticing your colleagues, leaders, friends, family members, or co-workers losing control of their emotions?
It seems that our thoughts govern our emotions, when we stop thinking a thought, the emotion it arouses dissipates, that’s why we distract crying children to change their focus on whatever was causing them to be upset.
As adults, we have the same need to change our thoughts, so we can cultivate more productive emotions, improve our success and yes even more abundance in our lives. In a thirty-minute newscast yesterday, I saw flooding in one city, fire in another, heat waves in another, and on. With all the troubles in the world today, most people are on an emotional roller coaster.
Viewing this kind of news several times a day programs our subconscious to expect the worst, and our feelings and emotions follow a similar pattern of negativity, causing us distress, and many new and strange diseases. Why is there so much hunger, poverty, and illness in our world? Could it be because we are not deliberate enough about the thoughts and emotions we are harbouring?
Why then are workplace conflicts, distrust, anger, resentment, bullying, harassment, and grievances so common?
Several years ago, I started practicing emotional cleanses with my clients, something I have done for decades on my own, and the results have been life-changing for most of them. One client, whom I will call Sarah, at 45 claimed that she woke up angry each day, for as long as she could remember. After an emotional cleanse work, she reported that the employees she supervised no longer left the room when she came in the door, rather they were approaching her and asking for her advice, her help, and soliciting her views. Likewise, the challenges she was having with her own boss, whom she claimed was “out to get her” improved and they started being nice to each other. She was amazed at how much confidence she was feeling about herself and other relationships in her life.
A mental cleanse is a great process for breaking emotional habits, most of us have a few choice emotions we rely on to respond to all situations in our lives. An emotional cleanse puts you on recharge, giving you the opportunity to rethink your actions and revise your thoughts and feelings, thus responding differently and thereby, having a different impact on others and a new experience for all concerned.
I promote emotional cleanses as a professional development process, training workshops, coaching program, a workplace wellness challenge, or mental wellness exercise. Whichever way it’s done, it will help you move past your go-to feelings, so you can explore new ones. This causes a shift in your attitude and a different experience for those around you. Emotional cleanse helps to develop self-mastery, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal wellness.
